Ngoc Hien Bird Sanctuary, located in Ngoc Hien District, is one of the largest natural bird sanctuaries in Vietnam, covering a total area of 130 hectares. Situated along the Bay Hap River, the sanctuary benefits from an abundant supply of fish and shrimp, along with lush, year-round vegetation. These favorable natural conditions attract numerous bird species that regularly come to feed and nest.
The area serves as an important site for the conservation and breeding of many rare bird species. Commonly seen birds include silver-cheeked birds, white egrets, painted storks, grey herons, and water lilies, along with a variety of amphibians and reptiles. In addition, several rare bird species such as the red-crowned crane, cormorant, and night heron are also frequently spotted here while foraging for food.
