Ban Gioc Waterfall was once listed among the most beautiful waterfalls in Southeast Asia and is also ranked among the top four largest waterfalls in the world. Located at the crossroads of the China–Vietnam border, Ban Gioc appears like a pristine white silk ribbon amid the mountains and forests of Cao Bang, cascading gracefully into the jade-green waters of the Quay Son River.
Ban Gioc Waterfall is about 100 km from the center of Cao Bang, so you can get there by coach or motorbike.
The best time to visit is from August to November. From August to September, Cao Bằng is nearing the end of the rainy season, when the waterfall has a strong flow and remarkably clear, turquoise water. October marks the rice harvest season, while November is when wild sunflowers bloom in the area.
